Te Puawai camp

On Tuesday the twenty first, my class went on to waiari. My mum and dad came. When we arrived at school I was so excited. I saw my friends and I’m sure they were more excited than me. It’s raining…Noo!! Are we still going? I thought. What! The rain stopped and we got the kids that we were taking. I had Serenade and Aurora. Serenade and I got so, so,so excited about getting to camp.That day we went paddleboarding. Next day. The next day we went on a walk to the hole in the rock. It was freezing. I kind started sinking because I had my shoes and clothes on… but I got saved by Mr Masters. We got bake and we had a nice warm hot chocolate.The last day: sadly we packed our bags, went kayaking, for my first time. It was awesome, but sadly it was time to go.

 The naughty easter bunny!

On christmas Eve 2018… The Easter Bunny thought he should go and steal some stuff from santa. I wonder if he realised all the little kids were waiting for their christmas presents. Rudolph was the official gard. All the elves were working hard out. The easter bunny came dressed as an elf. He was able to go in. He stole Rudolph's present. All santa said take your clothes and put on and put on your P.J’s. He left and Rudolph caught him. “Go back to easter bunny land… and give back those presents”. He gave back the presents and ran. And christmas was a happy occasion.

Which character was your favourite and why?

Alsome prototype

WALT:  We are learning to design and create a Hydropnics system.

This is my prototype.

What was My favourite part?

My favourite was putting the sticks together and trying not to burn my hand. But when I did it hurt. I was amazed by the look of it … and doing it with my friends.

What I could have done differently?

I could have put my popsicle sticks in different places. I could have not put a cup at the bottom of my prototype. My pipes could be inside the prototype.

What I found difficult?

I found putting the sticks together difficult. Burning my hands hurt. Gluing the sticks and trying to not burn my hands was hard because I had to hold the popsicle sticks. It was sore. Trying to keep the pipes together was hard too.

What I could have done better?

I could have tried not to rush. I could have my sticks dyed in different colours because it looked boring, old plain brown. I could have not put my cup under the prototype so it would stand up properly.

WALT: We are learning to write scary stories.

The haunted forest

It was a dark, spooky night out in the woods. The wolves were howling and I was very scared. I thought someone was going to haunt me. There was a creepy noise coming from behind me. Was it a wolf, Dragon, skeleton or a haunted Dog? I started thinking am I going to get hurt? I yelled “go away, I’m scared! Don't hurt me I’m only a little girl.” I want to go home! I thought  to myself. Soon something jumped out at me… It was a skeleton trying to eat me!  Are they trying to make me a spooky skeleton? I ran!

The messy hydroponics setup

WALT: We are learning about hydroponics systems.

Why I Chose this Design:

I chose this design because it is a nice and easy
hydroponics setup. It is simple and easy to make. 
The sun shines directly at the plants. The water slides
slowly down the spouting. It doesn't need to much water
because it is a hydroponics system and feeds itself.

What I found hard was puting the plants in the putting the
plants into the yoghurt containers. What do yout think?

Amazig Hydroponics setup

Hydroponics method

First you need your materials: Nutrients, water tester, play pebbles, cup or bucket, plant, a mixing tool, plastic bottle, yoghurt container, mesh, sphagnum moss and maxigro.

1. First you get your bucket of water and add your nutrients to the water. Then stir until dissolved.

2. Test your water to see if it is warm.

3. Next you get your yogurt container and box cutter. Then cut slits on the sides of the yogurt container.

4. Now you get your plant and put it in your yoghurt container and fill it with sphagnum moss.

5. Put your yoghurt container with the plant in the water.

6. Last put your play pebbles around your plant.

7. Now wait at least five week’s.

the crazy brothers of matariki

Seven Sisters of Matariki:

Once there were seven brothers that lived in kataia. Mitai was still training hard to get his magic powers. His magic power was to fly. He could fly up to Tawhirimatea. Mitai hated fishing and hunting for food, but his brothers loved it. They went to the top of the hill. There were wonderful voices coming from some beautiful ladies behind the bushes. But they were patupaiarehe. The brothers had fallen in love, all except Mitai. “They are patupaiarehe!” The brothers took the patupaiarehe back to make them their wives. The patupaiarehe had a plan to starve the brothers to death. The brothers didn’t know that they were patupaiarehe or fairy women. Mitai saw six fairy women. Then one more flew out and there were seven. Mitai turned into a kereru and followed the fairy women to the house. Mitai sat on the roof listening to the patupaiarehe. “We shall make them as skinny as we can!” Mitai flapped his wings as fast as he could. Mitai said to his brothers, ”Look at you! You are as skinny as a stick!” Mitai and his brothers got magic nets to catch the fairy women. “Finally we have got the fairy women” shouted Mitai. We shall take them to Tawhirimatea, so he can blow them far into the night sky.
